[Publib] Deadly earnest serious librarians

I too met my husband at the library. His godfather had worked in my department for years and was recently retired. Both of his parents had been the president of Friends at one point or the other. My current coworkers had tried to set me up with him a year before (not mentioning any of the above connections) but I had scoffed. Then, lo and behold, he came in and asked for some ILLs. Next thing I know we're dating, we're engaged, we're married!

I met my husband when I was working at the library. He was a patron and even funnier, I had been assisting his disabled father for years. (The rarely visited together) Little did I know he'd someday be my father-in-law! My husband likes to tell people that the library is a "real meat market" for singles ;-)!

While my Significant Other is not a library staff member, we did meet here at the Romeo District Library. What made the whole thing even more interesting is that before we started dating, we found out that his dad is married a friend of mine's mom--I had known my friend and his mom all of my life, through church and school! No potential in-law problems there :)! Just the challenge of our respective parents gossiping about us when they meet up with each other at church--sigh. I actually now have to tell my mom more now than I used to, just because of whatever my SO discusses with his dad! Too funny! Enjoy!

This is only because they are too busy figuring out ways to
avoid contact with library patrons.

Interesting. Something that I've never seen covered in
AL or LJ is library romances -- not the novels, but library
staff who meet in the workplace and the sparks fly . . .
I met my wife-to-be when she was an intern in the library.
(Yes, yes, I know, hitting on an intern. You can't imagine
the jokes I had to endure during the Bill-Monica flap.)
One of the things we both bonded over was our mutual
love of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
I see a good article coming . . .
