[Publib] Re: Book Club Books

Having just led a discussion today where 25 (YEAH!) people participated,
book club books are very much on our mind.  Our library buys multiple copies
in paperback of the titles selected, but not enough for every discussion
group member.  It is our experience that half or more prefer to buy their
own copies.  The books are catalogued and checked out in the same way that
any library book would be.

 

Because we buy multiple copies and because so many folks buy their own, one
criteria is that the book must be readily available in paperback.  There
must also be multiple copies in our county system to insure copies will be
relatively easy to get.  If the book is also available in large print and/or
books on tape/CD, so much the better.
