[Publib] Amazon's Library Processing

Hi Judy. Thanks for this constructive feedback. We are working on mechanisms to alleviate these kind of delays. Usually, the items customers order go out very quickly. The discrepency between stated and actual availability is often due to the fact that what we show on the website represents the availability for at least 1 copy. So if you order multiple copies (of less popular materials), you may (but usually won't) experience a delay.

I do hope you do give us a second shot. If you do and experience a similar issue, please contact me directly.

Compared to Barnes & Noble, are prices are usually more than 20% less expensive already. We do have some volume discount programs available, however, for libraries who plan to purchase a lot from Amazon. If you're interested in this, let me know.

Thanks.

Tony

I am not currently shopping from Amazon or working at a library. But the big problem I had were shipments that were four months overdue (which was a major problem with my fiscal year). The website kept saying the books would ship in 24 hours. I ended up cancelling the order, placing it through Barnes and Noble and got the books within a week. This was when I was director of an academic library.

Why do the websites say the books are available when clearly they are not? I also had ordered a large number of Spanish language books and cancelled the order after four months for non-delivery.

This was a couple of years ago, but I stopped shopping from Amazon because I can't trust your delivery information.

Also, Barnes and Noble offers a discount for libraries. Why doesn't Amazon?
(At least your customer service people said they did not offer any discounts for libraries.)
