[Publib] aquariums in libraries

We have had an aquarium in our library for 5 years. We were first approached by Assateague Coastal Trust, asking us to raise baby terrapins until they could be released. We are now housing a grown terrapin who cannot be released. The good part is that it creates a focal point for children and adults. Everyone likes to hear about Sophie and the MD terrapins in general. The bad part: cost of food, cleaning the tank(125 gallon), the daily feeding and sunning out of the tank. Fish might be different. We have had some complaints but not enough to upset the Board.
Hope this helps.

I have searched PUBLIB, but cannot find much information about putting an aquarium in our new building. Please give me feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly fish. Thanks, Cheri
