I have always wondered about this, why do we hang Read posters in the library? Isn't that the equivalent of McDonalds hanging Eat posters in their restaurants?

Although I've never been a Gibson fan, I just adore Sean Connery (and
have begged the folks in our Tech area to give me the Sean poster
should it ever be retired).
I think that the READ posters are meant to encourage all people to
read, regardless of background, etc. If you had a READ poster of
Hitler, would you display it? Or one of Saddam or even Castro?
Someone from the KKK? If you wouldn't, why not?
Being a "droolable" object is one thing, but I think these posters are
meant to encourage things other than female desire, not hinder the use
of the library. In my Irishness, a poster of Bono would make me want
to take a closer look; if I were Jewish, I might think twice about
reading the book Mr. Gibson is holding, just as I might think twice
about a library that **appears** to be endorsing him. And I realize
that while you may not endorse anything, the perception from the
public **might** be that, by having the poster there, you are glossing
over his recent behavior.
Just my opinion and 2 cents worth.
