The Stevens County Rural Library District in beautiful Northeastern
Washington State is looking for an upbeat, energetic, and confident leader
who can work with the staff and the communities in Stevens County to take
library service to the next level.

The ideal candidate will have passion and enthusiasm for public library
service and will be an excellent communicator and negotiator able to build
partnerships as well as libraries.

Established in 1998 to provide public library service to the 30,000
residents of unincorporated Stevens County, the Library District is one of
the newest and most exciting libraries in Eastern Washington. SCRLD
implements a wide range of approaches to library service to meet the needs
of a geographically dispersed population: virtual reference, book-blogs,
remote access databases, remote book returns, as well as all the library
"stations" in granges and general stores along with traditional library
facilities.

Stevens County is known as the Rocky Mountain Gateway in Washington State.
Bordered on the west by the Columbia River, and the north by British
Columbia, it is an outdoorperson's and photographer's paradise with lakes,
forests, and wildlife. The area offers four seasons of recreational
activities including skiing, golf, hiking, fishing, and camping.

The Library Director, reporting to the Board of Trustees, is responsible for
the strategic planning, organization, effective management and direction of
all Library District operations, which includes nine libraries located in
small towns and communities throughout the county. Qualifications: MLS
Degree from an ALA accredited school of librarianship and/or WA State
Certification as a Librarian required. A minimum of five years of varied and
progressively responsible public library management experience, including at
least three years in a mid-to upper-level supervisory position.

Salary range: $50,000 - $58,000
