Hello! I am a cataloger from the New Orleans Public Library who evacuated
to Jacksonville, Florida. I am concerned about many of my co-workers with
whom I have no way of getting in touch. I was hoping that if any of my
co-workers were checking their e-mails, they might be reading Pub-Lib for
news of New Orleans like I am.

I have no way of knowing what has happened to our libraries in the city, but
I have an idea that a few of them have flooded, and that the Main Library
downtown (where I work(ed)) has at least flooded in the two basements and
probably the first floor. Someone noted earlier on the list that there was
some sort of territorial conflict about where the archives should be stored;
since I didn't work in that division I can't answer to that. My hopes are
that something survived and that we have libraries and jobs to go back to.

If anyone from the NOPL is reading this, please get in touch with me:
jfcreevy at yahoo.com  or
904-276-1393.

Please give us your good thoughts!

Librarian II, Assistant Head of Cataloging
