Assistant Director of Adult Services
Hall County Library System

The Hall County Library System seeks an experienced and dynamic
administrator to plan, oversee, and direct library system services for
adults. The assistant director coordinates these services and programs in
all library branches and supervises adult services at the Headquarters
branch. This position also acts as Branch Manager for the Headquarters
facility. The assistant director is responsible for the acquisition and
collection development of adult resources including the evaluation and
recommendation of electronic resources. Other responsibilities include
collecting and developing reports on library statistics; initiating outreach
services to community groups; supervising bibliographic services in
collaboration with the Technology Services Manager; and developing strategic
plans for library service to adults.
The Hall County Library System currently serves a population of over 150,000
with five library branches and 45 FTE staff members including 4 professional
librarians. Job requirements are a Master's of Library Science from an ALA
accredited institution, 5 years of progressively responsible library
experience including 2 years of supervisory experience, and ability to
obtain a grade 5-B or higher certification from the Georgia Board for the
Certification of Librarians. Spanish language skills are desired.
Considerable knowledge of modern public library practices and trends is
required. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
based upon the Georgia Public Library Pay Scale with a minimum starting
salary of $41,785 and an additional minimum local supplement of $4,100
annually depending upon experience. The successful applicant will be
required to undergo a criminal background check and drug screening. The Hall
County Library System offers generous annual and sick leave, as well as

of the greater metropolitan Atlanta area. Beautiful Lake Lanier spreads
throughout the county, which is also home to the Atlanta Falcons training
camp and host of the 1996 Olympic Rowing/Kayaking events. Hall County is
conveniently located near such attractions as Helen, Georgia, Road Atlanta,
the University of Georgia and the Blue Ridge mountains of North Georgia.
Gainesville features three colleges-Brenau University, Gainesville College,
and Lanier Technical College-as well as wonderful public and private schools
