Hi all,

The query below was sent in early September. I have learned that
a reprint of the original 1931 edition of S.R. Ranganathan's Five Laws of
Library Science will be published by Ess Ess Publications of New Delhi, India.
I've been told copies will be distributed to the U.S. soon, but am not sure
how or when exactly. Ess Ess also plans to publish other classic works by
Ranganathan. Their website is:

http://www.essessreference.com/

Also,
an electronic copy of Five Laws now appears to be available through the Digital
Library of India at this site:

http://dli.iiit.ac.in/

You can search
the digital library by title or author. Unfortunately, the TIFF format is
difficult to read. Each page is a separate file, and their viewer crashes
my Firefox browser. For easier access, the file structure appears here:

http://dli.iiit.ac.in/server12/disk4/T0_Submission/copied/MULTI/The_Five_Laws_Of_Library_Science/PTIFF/

Anyone know how to convert TIFF to plain text a la Project Gutenburg? Five
Laws is not public domain, but I have corresponded with the rights holders
at SRELS in Bangalore, and I believe they would grant permission to post a
usable copy of Five Laws online.

Thanks.

Does anyone have a copy of "The Five Laws of Library
Science" by
Ranganathan that they are looking to get rid of? I'm looking
to get a
copy for my own personal use and thought I'd check the weeding tables

first!

Thanks,
Michele
