There are the following tools available:
Sequels: An Annotated Guide to Novels in Series by Janet Husband and
Jonathan F. Husband. 3rd ed. ALA, 1997.
To Be Continued: An Annotated Guide to Sequels. 2nd ed. by Merle L. Jacob
and Hope Apple. Oryx, 2000.
What's Next? A List of Books in Series. Kent District, Kent District
Library, 775 Ball NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 59503, 2000. www.kdl.org under
"Research and Other Databases"
Whole Story: 3000 Years of Sequels and Sequences. John Simkin, ed. Bowker,
2nd ed. 1998.
I have an entire list of RA tools I keep updated for the class I teach and
workshops I do. If anyone is interested in getting it as an attachment,
please email me privately. I think the moderators would die if I sent it to
the list.
Also, please remember that there is a Readers Advisiory preconference
organized for the PLA conference in March in Phoenix, and a track on RA
throughout the conference.
Hope this helps,
Mary K.

To ponder:
"In a free country," E. B. White wrote in January 1939, "it is the duty of
writers to pay no attention to duty. Only under a dictatorship is literature
expected to exhibit an harmonious design or an inspirational tone."
