The Dallas Public Library is accepting applications for the following
position:

Librarian 54 -- Assistant Manager
Government Information Center
Hiring Range: $31,504 - $35,284 Annually (negotiable)

Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree in Library Science from an
ALA-accredited university and two (2) years of professional library
experience, along with knowledge of one or more of the following subjects:
Government, History, Law, Public Administration, or Political Science.

Desired Qualifications: Effective oral and written communication skills,
demonstrated supervisory capability, ability to deal courteously with the
public, city agencies, and with other staff, experience with microcomputers
or online searching, and experience with government documents collections.

Duties of the Position:  Responsible for providing reference service both in
person and by phone for the public and for other city departments,
supervising three positions (including written evaluations), coordinating
staff training and scheduling for the division, developing and conducting
outreach and doing selection and collection management in the area of
municipal reference. Candidates must be able to access material at heights
of 90 inches, retrieve materials from shelves and filing cabinets, use a
step stool, lift up to 30 pounds, read graphs and charts, and operate
multi-button telephones and computer equipment. They must also be able to
bend, stoop, reach and stand for long periods of time, as well as be able to
push or pull fully-loaded book trucks.

Work schedule is 40 hours per week, and includes some nights and weekends.
