The Business Reference and Services Section (Brass) of RASD announces the
1994 annual program, New Engines for America: Uncovering Growth Industry
Information for the New Investment Machines, to be presented on Monday,
27 June 1994, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Miami Beach Convention
Center, Room C124. This program will discuss the determination of growth
industries with examples from the service, health care, and environmental
sectors of the economy. Special emphasis will be placed on current
implications and trends, new information needs, as well as publications
and non-traditional resources generated by these industries. John
Rekenthaler, editor of Morningstar Mutual Funds, will begin the program
by discussing the process of determining whether an industry is growing
and when industry growth is a potential indicator of a high-yield
investment. Phyllis Alpert (Miami-Dade Public Library), Susan Detwiler
(S. M. Detwiler & Associates), and Sharyn Ladner (University of Miami)
will continue the discussion with a focus on the publications and
resources in these growth industries. An extensive bibliography will be
distributed.
