I can answer part of the question--when you include a PDF as part of the
email, it can make the email larger than our system can handle.
We do have Odyssey--I know many academics use the link-to-PDF method--I
imagine that they post the PDF on their server.
Good Luck,

Hi Cynthia,
When you say you send an email with a link to the PDF, where are you
posting the PDF to link to? Is there a reason you don't attach the PDF
to the email you send out? (Thanks---I am asking because I'm trying to
figure out a good process for sending articles electronically--my
library does not have Odyssey).
Best,
Ledja

Dear ILL Colleagues,
Here at Georgia Southern, our computer that had the ARIEL Sending
software on it died earlier this month and the software CD can't be
found so that we can load ARIEL Sending onto another computer. Our
computer that we receive ARIEL on has the ARIEL "Receive only" software.
SO, this means that we are no longer able to send photocopies via ARIEL.
We deliver almost all copies electronically - licenses permitting. We
deliver by e-mail with a link to PDF articles to those libraries that
can't receive via ILLiad's Odyssey.
We can continue to receive via ARIEL and are happy to do so! I like it
because I can see who is receiving what even if I didn't make the
request - unlike the automatic sending by ILLiad's Odyssey straight to
the patron.
Let us know if you have issues or concerns about receiving articles by
e-mail link. Our department e-mail address is ill at georgiasouthern.edu.
Thanks!! Cynthia
