[ILL-L] Buy, Not Borrow

We're planning to implement a "Buy, Not Borrow" pilot project at our
library and would appreciate hearing from other libraries who have
instituted similar programs. Some of the specific issues we're
grappling with at the present include: criteria used to select books
for purchase, adequate processing of the book once received; i.e. simple
catalog record with barcode and library stamp vs. full processing of
book, and checkout period for item as well as best way to flag when
returned by patron. Though we've done fairly exhaustive research on the
topic, we're still in want of specific best practices of other
libraries. Any feedback is appreciated regarding these issues and we
welcome comments about the success (or lack of) similar programs.
