[ILL-L] Holiday Closings?

We go by city union rules so we're always gone the day after Thanksgiving. Christmas and New Year's created some challenges but we only have Christmas Eve and Christmas Monday off - not a whole week.  But then again- JPL is a public library and have collegiates needing to use the facilities before they head back.

I think that this thread is more along the lines of how other libraries handle the holidays.  Do they close completely or what?  I didn't start the thread, but I'm keeping track.  We are given the week after Christmas off and higher ups (higher then the pres) have been questioning it.  This thread is some ammo to say that we aren't the only place that closes that week.

I wonder why there is a need to inform other libraries about your library's holiday closing.  If you set your symbol to non-supplier status on the days your library will be closed for the particular holiday doesn't that achieve the same purpose?   What do libraries who see these closing postings do with the information?  I would be happy to take your responses off the list.
