[ILL-L] Articles received before OCLC status shows Shipped

We wait two days or so, then delete the orderif not updated. They lose the credit, but our experience is that if it isn't updated pretty quickly, it isn't updated at all, and then it goes to the next lender and they send it also, and the first library loses credit anyway. When it's a book it's more involved since the second book arrives, only to be returned.

When an article arrives before the lender updates OCLC to Shipped, we call the lender and ask that they update for us to receive. But if they haven't updated after a day or so, what do you do? Is it appropriate to receive (We receive in ILLiad) and then delete the request in OCLC or does that prevent the lender from getting credit for lending?
