[ILL-L] turning off OCLC direct request?

Yes, if you uncheck that "ILL Access" box, then the ILL button will no
longer appear to your patrons when they are looking at records in
WorldCat.

The "need before date" is determined by the default constant data record
being applied to the requests. Under the "Staff ILL settings" heading,
choose "Constant Data Records" & see what the "Need Before" date is set
to.

Hm. The options there don't look like what I need. I wonder if I
have my terminology mixed up. Let me try with little words (surely I can
get those right, even at this time of day.)

My patrons can currently choose an OCLC record and request an
ILL. Their request goes into my review file. I don't want them to be
able to do this. I want them to have to email me or submit our email
form, completely outside of OCLC. Is that under Patron ILL settings >
ILL processing? There's an option for "ILL Access" that looks very
tempting to turn "off".

Actually, while i"m here, i have a second question. When I get
items in my review file like this, they often have a "date needed" just
a couple days away. (Typically, I get a request dated Saturday or
Sunday, with a date needed of Tuesday.) Is there a default setting for
that field? I imagine my patrons are the ones saying they need the ILL
in 3 days....

You can go to WorldCat administration module (a button
to the top left on the Resource Sharing page), then on the left go to
Staff ILL Settings, choose Direct Request Profiles, and then call up
each profile and at the very bottom it will say 'produce the request',
change it to no, and save it.

Subject: [ILL-L] turning off OCLC direct request?

		Greetings,

I took over ILL operations at a library that had OCLC
direct request turned on. I need to turn it off, and I have no idea how.
Is this a setting I can change (somewhere in the admin module, perhaps)?
Or do I need to go through my regional provider?

I have never been a fan of the idea of letting my
patrons pick their own records, and man are they proving me right.

Thank you so much in advance, for lending a little
sanity back into my life.
