[ILL-L] problems with pdf delivery

The problem isn't a virus that attacks pdfs, but one that takes advantage of
a security hole in Acrobat to attack your pc, and can be delivered within a
bogus pdf document. Adobe is supposed to be issuing a patch this Wednesday.
In the meantime, some IT departments have been recommending that people a)
set Adobe (full Acrobat and Acrobat Reader) to not open pdfs within a
browser window and b) turn off Javascript in both full Acrobat and Acrobat
Reader. It's entirely plausible that some IT departments are simply blocking
emails with pdf attachments. There are many references to this problem on
the net now. There's a good, fairly nontechnical explanation in the
Washington Post at

Hello all,
Last week and now today, we have been noticing a problem with sending emails
with attachments. They come back as a delayed sending problem or on hold.
Our IT guys came today to try to fix it. They said there is a virus out
there that may attack PDF's and are awaiting a fix from Adobe. Has anyone
else had this problem?
