[ILL-L] Packaging for mailing A/V

We always try to ship AV materials in boxes, for safety, and via UPS, for
the insurance coverage. Many times, the items come back to us in bubble
mailers, via the USPS. Fortunately, we have not had any real problems with
items that are returned in mailers, being damaged. My guess is it is
probably safe for the most part.

Subject: [ILL-L] Packaging for mailing A/V
Greetings all,
We have been mailing all outgoing DVDs, CDs, audio CDs, and videos in boxes
(those we're lending and the returns from those we've borrowed). To date,
we haven't regularly purchased boxes for mailing, as they don't usually come
back to us for re-use, and it gets expensive. However, we often run out of
a supply of boxes. For those of you who don't box all mailed A/V, do you
find things are getting damaged en route? I'm contemplating just switching
to bubble wrap envelopes for the CDs and DVDs, but I don't want to end up
dealing with an increase in damaged goods and replacement fees. How's it
all working for you?
Thanks,
Cyndi
