We had a limit of 12 or returnables held by a patron at any one time, but they didn't exceed it by more than three or four, so we dropped the limit. Some libraries want to encourage borrowing and will borrow as many as a patron wants, it depends on policy, I guess.

Subject: [ILL-L] Monthly cap on ILL borrowing
Has anyone implemented a monthly cap on ILL borrowing for your local patrons? We have a daily limit of five, but when there are industrious requesters, five per day adds up fast! I am primarily concerned with mitigating our returnables borrowing for budgetary reasons but want to make sure suggesting to limit in that manner isn't taboo. I am just nearing the one year mark in performing interlibrary loan so I'm still feeling a bit green in some areas. J Any thoughts or insight are appreciated!
Thank you,
Cheryl Mancini
