[ILL-L] BKL- Brooklyn Public Library

We had a big discussion on the listserv about this a few years ago. OCLC
told me then that recalling an item when it was still in shipped would
cause the lending credit to be lost.
Libraries recall a book when it hasn't even been physically shipped out
because they realize they have the wrong book, or the book is too
damaged, etc. A colleague at a Florida library told me that another
Florida library routinely updates her requests to Shipped. When an item
doesn't arrive in a week or so, she calls them and gets the answer; "Oh-
we couldn't get that for you." Is OCLC saying libraries that update to
shipped but don't send the books, still get the lending credits?

Way down at the bottom of this page is an explanation for this exact
situation:

erguide/completingaloan/completingaloan.htm
It appears to me that lending credit is applied when the status changes
to "Shipped." See Note 2.

It's been resolved now.
The item was still in Shipped; if I had recalled it, we would have lost
the Lending credit. If it had been in Received, though- I think we
would have retained the credit.

You could, I think, recall it and then complete it, I think,

Greetings!
We received a book back from BKL- Brooklyn Public Library that was still
in Shipped status. I've been sending e-mails to them for a month trying
to get them to help us close out the transaction, but haven't gotten any
response. I even sent a request for help through their website. Does
anyone know if there have been any personnel changes in their ILL
staff? We're still getting requests from them.
