** Apologies for cross-posting **
Mark your ALA calendar to join the RUSA STARS Interlibrary Loan Committee at our program:
Resource Sharing in the 21st Century: Beyond Books and Journals
When: Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 1:30P.M. - 3:00P.M.
Where: Room W-190A of McCormick Place West.
Although books and journals constitute most resource sharing, users increasingly ask for access to other materials in a variety of formats. How can we share these digital (streaming video, downloadable audio files, e-books, etc.) and non-print collections through traditional ILL or cooperative sharing? What is the current state of resource sharing with regard to formats other than print, and how are we providing greater access to each other's collections through consortial borrowing and circulation?
Speakers:
Kyle Banerjee, Digital Services Program Manager of the Orbis Cascade Alliance who will discuss their experiences with consortial borrowing using OCLC Navigator
Maureen O'Brien Dermott, Assistant Director, Library Access Services at Dickinson College, who will talk about Dickinson's experience using Netflix in Interlibrary Loan and their decision to abandon it in favor of alternative options
Rich Rosy, Vice President & General Manager, Institutional Solutions at Ingram Digital, who will speak from the publisher's perspective about licensing e-books for ILL
