Our state is divided into regions with overseen by networks/consortia,
so each network/consortium has its own holdings group named after the
group like NEFLIN, CFLC, TBLC, PLAN, et al. We are members of SOLINET
and belong to the SL#N and S06 ILL groups so we have groups for that.
SL#N pledges to lend books free but may provide free copies. With S06,
it's all free. We are part of LVIS, so we have groups of LVIS in our
state, then in the geographic areas beyond that LVISOUTH,
LVISMIDW,LVISNE,LVISWEST, and LVISOUT (outside the US). reciprocal
lenders are in the RECIPROC group. We have a general group of
free-lenders: FREELEND. And then there's a group that's our last resort
group: IFNOFREE. That's for books. We also have groups for COPIES and
for GENEALOGY. If they charge, they're not in our custom holdings,
because our customers are responsible for paying any loan costs and the
vast majority tell us upfront that they won't pay.
I help out with Lending and Borrowing with an ulterior motive. If I
spot a free-lender while I'm working on requests, I make a note of the
symbol and it goes in our FREELEND group.
We started charging libraries who charge us last month. We put an
affiliation note (SL#N, S06,LVIS, etc) next to their name in our ILLiad
address book. If they charge for everything, they get $$ next to their
name. If they charge for copies, they get a $C. If they are a free
lender, they get a (F). This saves us from having to check each time.

Subject: [ILL-L] Custom holdings groups
I know how to create the groups and paths and how to add/delete
libraries according to their charges or noncharges.
My question is just how folks title their groups - we are encounter
difficulties in just deciding the best titles for groups due to some
folks charging via IFM, others not, some charging for copies, but not
for loans, etc.
Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
The ILL folks here have set up a system to update our groups weekly so
it is not an overwhelming task once a year or so.
