ALA has released a new tool for interpreting Section 108 of the Copyright Act, which covers copying by Libraries or Archives. Section 108 carves out exceptions for libraries and archives to make copies in specific limited situations which would otherwise be copyright infringement .
The Section 108 spinner is available at:

One caveat on its use. Each portion of the spinner has a "Click for details" link. In order to make an accurate determination whether or not your intended copying is covered by Section 108, you need to read the full description. Each allowed copying has exceptions to the rule (so, yes, the exceptions have exceptions).
