Abstract:
The article examines how green roofs contribute to sustainable construction and how Great Britain and other countries are harnessing their properties. It states that green roofs are one of the sustainable construction technologies that can deliver several objectives including stormwater management, climate-change mitigation and managing air quality. It discusses developments in green roofs in the country, one of which has been the publication of the London Planning Policy by Mayor Ken Livingstone. Among boroughs that have developed their own complementary policies for geen roofs include Tower Hamlets, Hounslow and Lewisham.
