[ILL-L] Lending DVDs and Media

I guess I have to ask the question: Why does it matter what type of library will supply the item?
I have worked in two large public libraries that had significantly larger education and documentary collections than a small college library I worked at previously.
If a library doesn't own the title, it wouldn't appear in the holdings display.
If it matters, I'd just set up my AV custom holdings path with groups divided whatever priority I desire.
BTW: I'm the current compiler of the free/LVIS AV list. This is only libraries that never charge and do not retstrict specific formats. I'm still adding to my master list that has another 1,000 or so libraries that loan only certain format(s) or charge all or some borrowers. I still have Illinois and Ohio libraries to research and then decide how both to format for use by others.

I find the lists of free AV lenders from this page to be very helpful: http://www.shareill.org/index.php/Custom_Holdings
Perhaps we should add a list for academics that lend AV?

Hi Folks,
I work at an academic library that lends most of our media to both public and academic libraries. The problem comes when we try to borrow this type of material. There are several academic libraries that lend to us and MANY public libraries that will also – I am thankful to all of you! I am trying to find more academic libraries willing to lend to us, so that I don’t have to hit the publics and the same academics over and over again.
If you are an academic library willing to lend media to WPG, could you please respond to me at lrob at wpi.edu.
Thanks so much and have a great weekend.
Best regards,
Laura
