[ILL-L] Limit to number of books a student can take out?

As Heather says, it really does boil down to money. Students and faculty sometimes seem to think that ILL is completely free simply because they do not have to pay anything. It's not that I personally care if someone wants something for recreational reading, but, it is using taxpayer money. We try to limit requests to academic purposes, although that isn't always possible to tell.

To play devil's advocate for a moment: I agree that it's important for students to be aware of the lender's terms, but is it important for us to know if the student is correctly using the loaned item to its fullest potential? Why are we concerned with what they do with a library item once they have it?
