[ILL-L] Lending New Materials

I'll usually lend something that's new IF it's on the shelf. May seem obvious but most requests for new materials we get are for items that have long, long (did i say "long"?) request lists (90%) and i can just say "in use, on loan" or as i prefer "are you kidding?".
oh, yes; please add "Midnight" to the above category joining Mack at the Shack and Girl Meets Vampire

We're a public library. We don't lend or borrow anything that's published in the present calendar year- nope, no exceptions. This means, of course, that we are getting oodles and oodles of requests now because it's early in the year and all 2008 books are fair game. And- in the days before deflection- we received requests for books that weren't going to be published for months yet. I wish there was a way for those books NOT to appear in WorldCat until after they're published.

Hello All,

I am new to the world of ILL and would like to know what your policies are regarding the lending of newly acquired materials. Do you lend new materials? What do you consider new? Will you lend something considered new if you are the borrowers last chance?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Best,

Sean
