[ILL-L] ILLiad

We had CLIO before we switched to ILLiad as a hosted site five years
ago. This was before the sunsetting of various OCLC softwares like
Passport.  We were using five softwares in combination to do ILL. The
decision was made before I took over ILL.  At the time- CLIO had us pay
for each upgrade and we were several upgrades in the past.  As I was
trying to learn ILL and to fix problems, CLIO would not assist me
without our paying for an upgrade. O- I was frustrated with the
situation and felt abandoned; that affects my view of CLIO. With ILLiad,
we are a hosted site and pay a licensing fee each year.  I've never had
problems getting answers to my questions or solutions to my problems
whatever version we were using at the time.

 

Admin chose ILLiad because our customers wanted a way to place requests
from home and track them without staff intervention. They can also
change pick-up locations and change contact information themselves. From
what I understand, other ILL Management softwares have offered
components like our Customer Interface. As far as ILLiad goes-  I have
been pleased with the help we've gotten as a hosted site from the
OCLC/ILLiad support team.  There have been a number of times that
disasters were quickly averted and enhancements/tweaks we needed were
provided. When we first went live with ILLiad Lending, the most grouchy
and cynical of our staff members at the time was so vocally enthusiastic
about how well it worked for us that I had to follow the sound of her
voice to make sure that it was really her speaking. The ILLiad we used
then and the version we use now are light-years apart as far as
functionality.  I feel ILLiad listens to us and takes note of what we
ask for on our wishlists.

I am currently using Clio for all of our ILL needs, but I would like to
know a little more about ILLiad from people who have used it.  Does
anyone have any feedback on the pros and cons of ILLiad?  Is there
anyone out there who has used both ILLiad and Clio and can give me a
comparison?  Thank you!!
