[ILL-L] Question about ILL articles & copyright

Yes, as I understand it, if these are from different issues of the same journal, there's no problem in requesting them; and since they're more than 5 years old, you don't have to worry about the "rule of 5." If your patron requested two articles from the same issue, even for an older journal, that would be an issue (sorry); but since they aren't, there's no problem.
I keep track of all ILL requests on spreadsheets (one for ILL articles borrowed from other libraries); this way I can sort spreadsheets, not only by due date (for books), patron, etc., but by journal title, to ensure that I don't violate the rule of 5 or request two articles from the issue issue.

Subject: [ILL-L] Question about ILL articles & copyright
Hello,
I'm writing to inquire about how other institutions handle ILL requests & copyright law. A patron of ours has recently requested 5 articles from the same journal title, though the dates of the articles vary (they are all more than 5 years old - 1990, 1992, 1995, 1997, 2000). To your knowledge, would it be possible for us to request all 5 articles without infringing on copyright? Also, does your institution keep a spreadsheet of all journals requested to protect against copyright infringement? Any additional information & links you can give about how your institution deals with copyright & ILL would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
--
