[ILL-L] WORKAROUND Problem with OCLC Loan Imports into QUICKDOC

This has been posted to multiple lists. Sorry for the duplication. I
think I have a solution to the problem described at the end.
If you have not imported the OCLC Loans into QuickDoc, it looks to me
that if you remove the ILLIAD TN field from the OCLC Lender Resource
Sharing Stats Report and then import it onto QD, it will load properly.
Since I had already loaded the data into my QD program, I have not been
able to test this suspicion.
If you have loaded the data, you will need to edit it. The journal
titles, charge, and received, at the very least will have to be
corrected. Journal titles have to be corrected one by one. I was not
able figure out how to chage the type from monograph to journals. Any
easy ways of doing this?
If you have loaded the data, and have not done any work to edit it, and
are very brave, I think that you could delete the records, edit the OCLC
fiels as described above, and then import it. I have not tried this, so
I do not know if it will work.
If you import OCLC Borrows into QD, I would check those files to see if
there are any changes from June to July. We do very little OCLC
borrowing, so I am not familiar with that portion.
If anyone has any other insight, please post it. Thanks!
Ellen

Subject: Problem with OCLC Loan Imports into QUICKDOC
Importance: High
Sorry for the cross postings. This is important for any library
that imports OCLC data into QuickDOC, especially since Jay Daly is no
longer available for advice.
This morning, when I imported the July 2009 OCLC Loans, the
journal titles were not loaded. Checking, I discovered that an ILLIAD
TN (title number?) field had been added to the OCLC Lender Resource
Sharing Stats Report.
Fortunately, it is a simple, if tedious matter, to add the
titles. Look up the individual OCLC ILL Transaction #, and then add the
journal title from there. See Lend Journal Title Not found (in CAPS).
Next month, I will delete the ILLIAD TN field, and hopefully the load
will go more smoothly.
I do not know if there will be implications with importing of
the OCLC Borrows, as we do not use that function in QuickDoc.
Hopefully, Jay's successor will be able to correct this problem.
