I’ve noticed several requests lately are coming into our request file that ILLiad is not able to find that came in through WorldCat, that actually have quite a few holdings.

Subject: [ILL-L] Worldcat Accession/OCLC Numbers
Have any of you had any trouble with Worldcat.org using different accession/OCLC numbers than FirstSearch/World Resource Sharing uses? I had a patron submit an ILL request from ArticleFirst through the Worldcat.org interface while connected to our university network. When our ILL dept tried to search/submit it from the review file in WRS, they received the message “No records matched your search”. That is, WRS didn’t recognize the accession/oclc number as it was different than that brought in from Worldcat.org. Title was:
Title:Neurology.
ISSN:0028-3878
Imprint:Cleveland, Ohio [etc.] Advanstar Communications [etc.]
Article:Hirsch, L J; Emerson, R G; Pedley, T A "Clinical Scientific Notes - Prolonged "postictal" aphasia: Demonstration of persistent ictal activity with intracranial electrodes"
Volume:56
Number:1
Date:2001
Pages:134 + 2 pages
Verified:ArticleFirst CODEN: NEURAI Type: a
I reported this to OCLC and was told this is a known issue. However, I’m wondering what implications this has with their Worldcat Local “Quick Start” product they are currently promoting, as, I believe, it uses the Worldcat.org interface.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
