Subject: PENDING REQUESTS/CALL NUMBERS
I try as much as possible to work directly from the Pending file to process requests, e.g., download articles from online journals and say YES at that step, say NO to article and book requests, etc., without printing the Pending requests. We say no to so many requests for articles from online journals for which we do not have the issues needed, as well as to requests for books that are out on loan or do not circulate-why waste the paper. We do print the requests for articles from Unbound and Bound periodicals and for books that we are lending. But then we have to write the call number on the request.
It would be wonderful if there were a way to copy and paste the call number from our catalog into a Pending request, but-as far as I can tell-there is no way. I believe this can be done if you are using Clio or Illiad, but not if you are just using WCRS. The link to our catalog is in each request but we can't copy and paste it into the call number field in a request.
Would it be possible for OCLC to consider enabling this function? I'm putting this on the list because I wasn't sure whom to contact at OCLC. Maybe someone from OCLC is looking at the list and will see this posting?
