[ILL-L] A Paperless ILL Service?

We do all of our record keeping for borrowing requests in Clio. I back up
the database file every week so there's a copy on my hard drive, a copy on
the network drive and a copy on a USB drive (that one goes home with me on
the weekends). The only thing I print for a new borrowing request is the
sticker that has the due date and whatnot on it when the book arrives.

I still have to print lending request forms and we save those for a year or
so (for no reason other than "that's what we've always done").

We just made the 'paperless' switch at the beginning of this academic year
and we've already noticed a huge difference in the amount of paper that we
use!

Subject: [ILL-L] A Paperless ILL Service?

Hello all!

I am relatively new to the ILL scene and have some questions about suggested
ALA guidelines. We use Clio and OCLC Request Manager to keep track of our
records, in addition to keeping an in-house log. We are currently printing
out all requests we place on OCLC and saving them in a binder (for the three
year guideline), as well as keeping a written log of requests.

My question is- if this info is saved in Clio indefinitely, as well as being
accessible on OCLC, do we need to keep the printed copies? Does the log need
to be printed as well, or would an Excel spreadsheet be fine?

I hope that this makes sense. :-) We'd just like to save a little paper
around here if at all possible!

Sincerely,
