[ILL-L] IFM?

Hi Andrew,
1) Borrower states the maximum cost and checks the box in the IFM field in the ILL request.
2) Lender checks box in the IFM field and states their charge in the lender area of the ILL request, and updates to "Shipped".
At this time, an IFM transaction has taken place.
The borrower is billed for all ILL charges via IFM on a monthly basis by OCLC. The borrower is actually paying OCLC. OCLC gives the lending library a credit, in the amount of the they argree of charge. A lending library that charges via IFM can meet the borrower's stated maximum cost, or charge below that cost. They cannot charge more than the maximum cost. They'll receive a monthly notice of those credits. The credits can be used to pay toward OCLC products, bills.
Please note that that the borrower is also charged a surcharge for each IFM transaction. If your library is under Group Services (you're paying one price for all OCLC services that you're using), the surcharge should be covered under group services. If not (you'll want to talk to your OCLC regional network about this), I believe the surcharge is around $1.00.
So, if you're willing to pay $10.00 for an interlibrary loan charge, and an IFM tranaction takes place, you're charged $11.00.

Subject: [ILL-L] IFM?
Hi everyone,
I'm curious if anyone can explain to me or point me to a good resource
on how IFM works. I know that it seems deductions and additions are
automatic, but I don't understand how money gets in there to begin
with to pay for transactions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
