[ILL-L] OT - library dress policies

Elizabeth,

We do not have a dress code.  However, under the subject of safety is always a discussion with staff about appropriate attire for the job.  For instance, shelvers are asked  not to wear flipflops and circulation staff are advised to wear modest clothing.  Most of the permanent (adult) staff need little coaching to recognize the reasons for these guidelines.  The student shelvers are less observant of them, foot wear in particular.  But, there are no requirements.

Staff who work on the automated materials handling operation (the conveyor belt) are prohibited from wearing: loose clothing, scarves, neckties, loose sleeves, hanging jewelry such as necklaces, watches, rings, ID badges on chains or lanyards, strings from hooded sweatshirts, tie cords on coats, open toed shoes or flip flops, and long hair must be tied back.

really appreciate it.  I've been asked to give some feedback to our own
dress policy, and I wanted a few for comparison.
