[ILL-L] Constant Data Records and ILLiad

Hi Linda,

Just writing this message will definitely help with some of the problems
you're having. You're probably having the trouble with Ariel and
Odyssey because ILLiad doesn't take address information directly into
the address database, we have to add it in there. The electronic
delivery address fields still aren't coming across in ILLiad (I'm not
sure why), so we don't see those at all. Moving them up probably
helped, especially since making those changes will flag your address as
one that needs to be updated, so we'll be prompted to make changes when
we get a request from you. For us, if we still miss it, the notes print
out so putting it there may help.

As for the printout, a lot of libraries don't make changes (or make
minimal changes) to the original template (which doesn't list the OCLC
symbol). I think the only way to get this changed is to ask - which you
have done by posting to the list. I would love it if more libraries
included their symbol on the printout, it's useful to us as well!

Thanks,

Subject: [ILL-L] Constant Data Records and ILLiad

Hello!

Sorry for cross-posting, but I don't have ILLiad, and I need some
help/advice.

I have Ariel and Odyssey set up on the same machine. While I prefer
Ariel, I will gladly accept documents sent via Odyssey. Whatever is
easiest for the lender.

So...how do I go about letting people with both Ariel and Odyssey know I
have both and will accept both?

I've just gotten another request filled by an ILLiad library with a
request printout that lists my fax number, but has blanks beside the
Ariel and the Odyssey fields. Why is that?

I've always had my Electronic Delivery addresses defined and ordered in
my constant data records. I picked Ariel first (FTP) and second (e-mail)
and Odyssey third, but I had all three there. I can see all three on my
OCLC ILL printout.

I've also set up my Ariel constant data record with Ariel and Odyssey
addresses in the Ship To: and Ship Via: fields. Today I went in and
moved them from the bottom of the Ship To: field to the top:
Ariel:157.182.165.30,PSC_Ariel at mail.wvu.edu/
Odyssey:157.182.165.30/ILL @ MARY F. SHIPPER LIBRARY (PWS)/POTOMAC STATE
COLLEGE OF WVU/103 FORT AVENUE/KEYSER, WV 26726-2697

I also changed the Ship Via: field to:
Ariel/Odyssey (157.182.165.30,PSC_Ariel at mail.wvu.edu) or USPS

Is there anything else I can do to make it easier for ILLiad libraries
to see that both options are available?

Also, as a borrower, it sure would be nice if the ILLiad printout
included the lender's OCLC symbol. For example, if the vertical text
"Somewhere University Interlibrary Loan" on the print out and book
labels, could have (OCLC symbol) added either after the Library name or
at the end of the line, it would be helpful. Is this something ILLiad
users could change or is it something OCLC has to change?

Why do I want this? -- Because to save Campus Mail employees time and
work (and maybe help my insured ILL packages go out on the same day), I
put the lender's OCLC symbol on all return address labels. Then when
Campus Mail insures the package, they only have to write the OCLC symbol
on the insurance receipt instead of the entire library name and address.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
