[ILL-L] Book Strap Question

We too put our own band on, since it includes our due date (5 days before the other library's), warning of fine for late fees, a note that renewal can only be requested once (which I cross out if the other library says "No renewal"), a note to return ILL material to our reference desk (not the public library!), and, of course, the note

 

 

Please do not remove band!!!

 

 

which so many people ignore (some of them also discard the lending library's bookstrap, printout, address label, etc.).

 

We don't really care whether the other library uses a bookstrap---except that it's slightly easier for us in affixing our own bookband without letting tape touch the book itself (otherwise we use a strip of paper).

We always printed our bookstrap and put over the one that came on the book.  Our bookstrap has information about fines, renewal policies and an adjusted due date on it, so we didn't really have a way to make the lending library's bookstrap work for us.  We've recently switched over to the removable stickers and we still just paste one of those onto the existing bookstrap.

This might seem obvious so bear with me.
 
When you borrow a book from another library and it comes with an affixed bookstrap, do you print out another and put yours OVER it?  Since all the information is there, could you just use the bookstrap that is already there?  
 
Or am I missing something?
