[ILL-L] Bookstrap Question

We don't have a preference - as long as all of the information is there
(and really, all we absolutely need is the ILL number and the
institution's OCLC symbol) it could be a strap, a label, or just a slip
of paper.

In our efforts to streamline workflow we decided to stop putting
bookstraps on materials we lent, and now just include a slip of paper
(the pullslip), from which we cut off the address label. This saves us
a ton of time because we just need to stick the piece of paper inside
the material. I had some concerns that the paper would fall out or not
be noticeable and other libraries wouldn't get the request information,
but so far haven't had any complaints or problems brought to our
attention.

I'm thinking it might be helpful for us to take up a little more of that
pullslip real estate with a return address label, I'll see how I can
squeeze it on.

I'm wondering how everyone else feels about this...

Either way - if it comes with a bookstrap I can save time by taping ours
over the front (and not having to have a back portion of the strap) -
but as long as it has some kind of identifying materials its fine (I do
wish more libraries still provided return labels - but I understand that
not everyone feels that way, since half of ours are coming back to us in
our books - but we're just too small of an operation to find printing
labels all that efficient)

Ok, next question...

Do you prefer that the borrowed book come with or without a bookstrap,
if you are going to put your own strap over it anyway?
Do you prefer that the book is just sent with some identifying
information, such as the ILL number, etc?

We'll put our normal label for ILL requests our patrons borrow over
whatever the lender provides. The lender's label won't have your
contact info for renewals, you might want to provide your patron with a
due date earlier than what's printed on the strap, and there might not
necessarily even be anything that indicates that the book was an ILL
provided by you and should be returned to you. There's probably at
least a couple more other solid reasons to provide your own
bookstrap/label, but I'm sure there's also setups that make these
reasons redundant depending on what other systems you're using.
