[ILL-L] Book Strap Question

Thanks for your responses so far, private and public.  All of your reasons make a lot of sense.
As you can tell I am not one of those people who is ever satisfied with the answer "B/c that is how we've always done it."

We do because our bookstraps are color coded for the Circulation Desk staff.  It's telling the staff what they need to do with the book; it's not really for the library patron.

This might seem obvious so bear with me.

When you borrow a book from another library and it comes with an affixed bookstrap, do you print out another and put yours OVER it?  Since all the information is there, could you just use the bookstrap that is already there?

Or am I missing something?
