[ILL-L] Problem libraries

I have "cut off" a library for several years. I was having trouble with a particular library and just stop sending books to them. I waited a year or so and filled a few requests to them - had the same problems and stopped for another couple of years. Then I filled a request and had no problems. I guess they just had a poor worker who has moved on. :(

Explanations are nice to the offending library, but I'll try once, and then just not bother.

I would hate to cut off a library "permanently", since it penalizes their patrons for something that isn't necessarily their fault. That's why I always base that difficult decision on current performance, and re-evaluate it whenever a new request comes in.

Laura-

Yes, u can cut them off, but u have to tell them. If u can't get them to
pay an invoice, u should tell ur supervisor or the business office.

The ILL Code for the US has the very last sentence for problem libraries.
"The supplying library may suspend service to a requesting library that
fails to comply with the provisions of this code"

Consulting with higher ups is always right. They meet with directors and
deputies all the time and they can correct things for u (and for the ILL
community and our readers).
