Subject: [ILL-L] Chicago Trib - circulating microfiche

I have a faculty member who needs to conduct research involving Chicago
Trib articles from the mid to late 70's and is not satisfied with any of
the electronic indexes/finding aids at his disposal. What he really
wants is microfilm, which we do not own for the time period he is
interested in. So my question, I suppose, is: does anybody in ILL-land
lend (or know of others who lend) Chicago Trib microfilm from ~1977. My
patron has relied on the hard-copy index (on microfilm) in the past in
conducting his research and seems to recall an index that covers
~1975-1979. If indivicual reels are not available, the index would
probably be a good place to start. I realize that a whole year of the
Trib comprises several reels, and that this request is far from the
norm, but this is what I am being asked about, thus my query. The redux
here is essentially this: I have a patron (a history prof) whose
preferences are somewhat old school: he prefers to sit before the
microfilm reader and browse old newspaper issues in the manner with
which he is familiar, but, we do not have said resource on film.

Any insight that others mith offer will be much appreciated here --
thanks in advance for any help . . ..

Thank you,
