[ILL-L] ILL for format preference?

I always start by alerting the patrons to the fact that we have the title as
an e-book and linking them to our tutorial on how to use e-books. I've
found that many of them request another format because they can't figure out
how to access/use the e-book. If they come back at that point and say they
still want the item in print we'll order it. So I guess we gently
discourage the practice but ultimately capitulate.

Subject: [ILL-L] ILL for format preference?

Hi All,

In the past we have requested print copies of books that we have access to
in electronic format as a courtesy to our patrons who prefer the print copy.
This has happened infrequently. But as our subscriptions to e-books grow I
can see an increase in such requests.

Do any of you request material you already own based on format preference?
Do you have a stated policy for or against such a practice?

TIA for your comments/thoughts.

Nora
