[ILL-L] ILLIAD and III

Hello Franca & all,
We are also an ILLiad-using public library with III. We just got started
with ILLiad-borrowing two weeks ago, so we are very interested in
hearing what others do, too.
In III we have a catalog record for the title 'Interlibrary Loan' with
about 1500 barcodes attached to it--what we do is assign one of those
barcodes to every ILL as it arrives--we scan it into the 'Call Number'
field in ILLiad & print it out on the book label to use in placing &
triggering holds.
This is a step we would love to eliminate.
In the future we would like to move on to WebCirc. There are two real
barriers for us--one, we have a good number of users that are not
computer savvy, so moving to ILLiad-only would be difficult for them.
Their library card record is about all they can handle. Two, our
delivery system is pretty unpredicatable. An item can get to one of our
17 branches in one day, or in eight. Since the notification would go out
from ILLiad when it arrived at the ILL office, we would have a lot of
upset & confused patrons--I know that we can set a delay on when the
notification goes out, but as delivery is so variable that doesn't help
a heck of a lot.
What would really help is if WebCirc was developed to 'trigger'
notification when it was checked in at the Branch library, rather than
the ILL office.
Good luck,
Rachael Short

For all libraries out there that have ILLIAD and use Innovative
Interfaces...I have a question. Have you, or are you able to, integrate
ILLIAD and III? The reason I am asking is that we currently track all
ILL requests for our patrons in our circulation system. The items also
show up on the patrons' records. We are always reviewing how we do
things in our ILL department, and I was wondering how Innovative
Interfaces libraries use ILLIAD.
Thank You
