Hi all,
Is any on the list participating in OCLC's pilot program, WorldCat
Direct? According to the literature we received with one of their
books, is integrates interlibrary loan and direct deliverly to library
patrons without the cost and staff time of traditional ILL. Better
World Books, a social enterprise book supplier, is the supplier.
Alathough RBN is not part of the pilot project, we have requested and
received 3 books. What I was curious about was did it work like ALIBRS
in that the institution bought the book for the patron or did the
library have the option of just borrowing it. If I understand their
literature, you can do either one. Better World Books provides a
prepaid mailing label, if all you want to do is borrow it. BWB send the
book for 30 days no renewals and I assume(wrong of me I'm sure) that if
you keep it longer that 30 days, the book is your and you pay the price
quoted on the label on the inside front cover, but their literature
doesn't say that. Their OCLC symbol is QUICK.
The Web site for more information is www.oclc.org/us/en/productworks/.
Does anyone have any more information?
