[ILL-L] A Friday "silly" question

[Inter Library Loan]

We too had a squirrel come into our library!  I don't have any idea how it got in, but one of our catalogers was merrily cataloging when she looked up and there was a great big old fat squirrel just standing on the side of her desk!  She screamed and ran out of the room, and we closed off all the exits to the room to trap it inside.  Then we had to venture back in to get the darn thing out!  Those things are super fast and we upended most of our technical services room just to capture it, but we finally did and let it go outside by our pond.  Boy did that thing run away fast!
 
We also had a bat in here once; trying to catch that was impossible.  We never did find it, so it either found its own way back out again or we have a dead bat somewhere in the stacks!  Gross!

We had 2 squirrels come in from a hole in the ceiling above the
fluorescent lights.  The most amusing part was that the library staff
started squealing but the library users pretty much continued what they
were doing as if nothing was going on.  We had to get a professional
animal trapper to get them out.

Andrea's "fun" question reminded me of a silly question: What animals
have come into your ILL department?

In talking with colleagues a few weeking ago, I remembered:

a snake - around someone's wrist
a bird - flew in (happened at two libraries)
dogs - came in through the Library's electric doors
cats - loved the office's southwest corner windows for napping, and the
office was on the second floor
a ferret - in someone's carry bag


I hope everyone has a fine Thanksgiving week and to non-US folks, a
great weekend.
