We use Adobe Acrobat, and send electronically when possible. If you don't have the funds to purchase Adobe, you can also use DocMorph and MyMorph..free programs from the National Library of Medicine. They're both great downloads. A little bit of information follows, stolen from their website. Go to http://docmorph.nlm.nih.gov/docmorph/. Free..for libraries and the public.

The DocMorph Web site and MyMorph software are two free conversion tools that allow users to convert more than 50 types of files <http://docmorph.nlm.nih.gov/docmorph/files.htm> into alternative, usable formats. DocMorph allows users to convert files one at a time into PDF, TIFF, or text through their Web browsers. The downloadable MyMorph client software replaces the browser for the case where users need to mass migrate files to PDF, TIFF, or text.

Both conversion tools were developed through document imaging research and development at the NLM's Lister Hill <http://www.lhncbc.nlm.nih.gov/> National Center for Biomedical Communications, Communications Engineering Branch <http://archive.nlm.nih.gov/> .

I have used this at home too...for me, its the best free program out there.

Subject: [ILL-L] For those who we cannot deliver via Odyssey . . .

Hi,

I have a question for everyone. We have ILLiad and Odyssey and send articles electronically via Odyssey whenever we can. But, naturally, not everyone has Odyssey. So, currently we also do some faxing and mailing of articles. But, I would like to create PDFs of these articles and send them that way, as it is a better quality copy than a fax and is faster than physical delivery. So, I was wondering what other folks do. Would it be good to created PDFs with an Adobe program (I'm not sure which one would be best) or is there a better alternative? I would actually like to go completely electronic when it comes to article delivery. How would you suggest we do that?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Carrie
