[ILL-L] adjusting due dates on borrowed books?

Yes, moving the date forward would be helpful for us. We look much more kindly on renewal requests that arrive before the book is late rather than after.

We also move up our patrons' due dates three days to allow time for this. It also means the book is (hopefully!) at least in the mail if not home by the due date.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [ILL-L] adjusting due dates on borrowed books?

We request renewals of borrowed books the day after they come due, that's when they come to our attention. Maybe we should move the due day forward one - two days so that we request renewals before the due date?

-Would this be helpful to other libraries?
-Do other libraries move the due date forward to allow for mailing back time?

Thanks for any suggestions,
