[ILL-L] adjusting due dates on borrowed books?

We move our patron's due date forward 4 days from the date specified by the
lending library. We do not, under any circumstances, request renewals after
the patron's due date has passed. We also do not request renewals
automatically.

Subject: [ILL-L] adjusting due dates on borrowed books?

We request renewals of borrowed books the day after they come due, that's
when they come to our attention. Maybe we should move the due day forward
one - two days so that we request renewals before the due date?

-Would this be helpful to other libraries?
-Do other libraries move the due date forward to allow for mailing back
time?

Thanks for any suggestions,
