[ILL-L] Help with an article - THANKS!~

I always cringe when I get ILL requests for an article from volume 1, issue 1 of a journal, since some journals don't last for a second issue, and even when the journal does survive, not many libraries have volume 1. (Last week our library got four requests for articles from volume 1 of a journal that we started getting with volume 2.)

On the other hand, this helped me once. A faculty member requested an article she found while Googling. All the web site had was title of article, author, and title of journal--no date, let alone volume or issue number. I spent about 40 minutes in databases, JSTOR, Google etc. trying to get a fuller citation, without success--all I coudl find was the web page where teh professor got her incomplete citation. I figured no library would be willing to leaf through the entire run to locate the article. But it turned out the periodical in question only lasted one issue, so the date turned out to be unnecessary, and we got the article--from the only library listed in WorldCat as holding it.

I contacted the author directly last night after posting to the list and
he was gracious enough to send me the PDF.

Thanks to everyone who took time to look...by the way, Marchenkov
believes this publication never got past a first issue, which explains
the difficulty in finding it.

Thanks again!
